Best Weather

August is the most popular month for visitors as it is comfortably warm at this time. Typically, humidity is between 19-23 degrees Celsius in April and June and then again in September and November which provides perfect weather for tourists. Anything outside of these months is either too hot or too cold, granted that Barcelona has beautiful winters that welcome the end of year visitor even into January and February as long as it doesn’t rain. Though August is the busiest time in Barcelona, a lot of natives, 10%, including shop and restaurant owners tend to take their vacation at the same time of year from about mid August to September which means that approximately 10% if shops are closed at that time. This does not stop visitors from enjoying the city, in fact, at this time of year, accommodation is more affordable and the city is quieter and the weather is great.

Try not to miss

One of Barcelona’s premier festivals is called Sonar, which showcases Advanced Music and Multimedia Art. The festival runs for three days and focuses heavily on music. This usually commences on a Thursday in the third week of June. Then there is the largest annual festival known as Festes de la Mercè which begins on September 24th and can be compared with Carnival in the Caribbean with very similar imagery and a variety of events which include processions with large wooden statues, live music, firework displays, human towers and much more. Fira de Santa lucia is held in December, from 2nd or 3rd to 23rd in front of the Santa Lucia Cathedral and is much like an on going flee market where Christmas items are sold. This is held in commemoration of St. Lucia and there are many more festivals. It is safe to say that whenever you choose to visit Barcelona, It is the best time to visit Barcelona. You’ll most likely be in time for one such exciting festival with all the pageantry that is usually involved.

  2. Hi,

For jewelry, prices are appx. the same all over Europe (linked to the gold/silver price of course). You can buy it here, or you may be better off with buying at your local jewelry shop in case you want to modify it after a while etc.

  4. Hi Kareem, what an exciting month that will be for you. If food and accommodation is taken care of you should be very comfortable with 30 euros a day to soak up the activities of the cities, maybe 15 or 20 euros is enough as well.

For Ibiza you should budget 80-100 euros for the short flight and it will be difficult to find hostel accommodation cheaper than 30 euros a night in August. The prices of entry of the night clubs are extreme. 40-50 euros, and a bottle of water inside costs 10 euros, so that’s another 100 euros for a night of fun.

1000-1500 euros should get you by comfortably I think. If you decide to not go to Ibiza you’ll may be able to live on 600-800 euros for the month.
