Parc Guell

Photo: View from the park
Definitely one of the most visited spots on Barcelona, this park perched on the hill is a must-see for many reasons. Along with providing perfect photo-ops throughout, the park marks Gaudi’s turn from architecture to landscaping, and offers some of the best views of the city. Originally created in 1922 by Antonio Guadi for the aristocracy of Barcelona, the park is a stunning example of modernist landscape architecture; stone lined passageways, a brilliantly tiled terrace, and strange animal sculptures are featured in this now-public landmark. Within the park is a little house that was inhabited by Gaudi during the construction of the park. It has been converted into a museum and can be visited for a small fee.
Just strolling around the park grounds is a nice way to spend an afternoon, there you will find a myriad of trees and plants to offer shade and an all-around pleasant environment. Of course due to its hillside positioning, you will enjoy a new and unique view with each step.
The larger-than-life-sized tiled dragon found at the park’s entrance is emblematic of the park and has appeared in many movies that take place in Barcelona. You may, perhaps, decide to make it part of yours.
