The Boqueria Market
As Barcelona’s biggest and most central food market, the Boqueria is a must-do for all visitors in Barcelona. With a history spanning over three hundred years, the traditions of vendors of old are merged with those of today to form a rich cultural center of food-selling. Here you will find the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood, along with an endless assortment of olives, cured meats and cheeses, all brought in by local farmers and artisans for the consumption of the people of the city.
Located mid-way between Plaza Catalunya and the port on the famous Ramblas promenade, it is a central feature and one that shouldn’t be missed. If not to purchase a bit of traditional Serrano Ham or Manchego Cheese, then at least to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of this emblematic landmark. Open 7 days a week, this is a place you’ll probably visit more than once due to its immensity and countless products to try.
Why should I go?
Because you’ll find the freshest food and see where most of Barcelona does its grocery shopping.
